The Equipment and Setup

Microsoft's Strategic Commander

This device (suggested by Mrs. Quad and finally adopted by me after a bit of a tiff that lasted a year) is what I use for movement. I have it set up so that it moves me forward and back, and strafes side to side. To turn, I have to use the keyboard unfortunately, but when fast turning is required, there are alternatives available specific to each fight. A side note to the Strategic Commander: Microsoft no longer supports this device (I personally belived they marketed it wrong) but you can google a program called "Strategic Engine 1.3" that works really well for Windows 8!

Microsoft's Sidewinder X6

Great keyboard! Programmable, fast and well lit, the feature I like most is the volume control/mute button.

Add-ons

I first got this trackball in '95, and have used it ever since. Unfortunately it has been discontinued and it's replacement doesn't fit as well. I would love to have the insides replaced with the updated USB version of it (the ball and insides do fit) but I'm having trouble finding someone who could do that.

The Setup

iKey bindings and interface mods are what I feel make World of Warcraft or for that matter, any game, accessible to people with mobility impairments. The mods I use take advantage of the key binding versitility and allows me to set up my UI (user interface) ij a more efficient way. (when I played bass, one of the tenents I followed was economy of movement, which basically was, the less movement your hand does, the faster you can play) With that in mind, I downloaded and installed Bartender 4, which allowed me to set up my action bars in a way that afforded my the greatest access to the buttons I used most at the bottom, and then fan out to the sides. I then used it's easy keybinding interface to assign each button a keystroke from the top down. When assigning keystrokes, I use the keys on the far right side of my board, with priority going to the most used actions, such as aim and explosive shots, and as I move left, the assignments start going to lesser used actions, such as feed pet or mount up. It all comes down to keeping my arm movement to the least amount as possible.
